Centre-Sud
Griffintown & St-Henri
This bustling area of Montréal is located just south of Downtown Montréal and Westmount. Initially a very industrial area, the last decade has seen this sector rejuvenate itself due to an adjacent growing downtown as well as the new MUHC Hospital to the west (aka the Super Hospital). Due to their proximity with each other, many classify Griffintown and St-Henri into one.
Griffintown
Griffintown is a neighbourhood of Montréal located west of the part of Old Montréal. It is a creative area with a mix of converted warehouses and Condo developments. It’s bordered by the Lachine Canal, which has a busy pedestrian and bike path. Hip locals dine at restaurants serving global fare along Rue Notre-Dame Ouest. From great history to avant-garde new architecture and a dining scene that can’t be beat, it’s the place to be.
In an effort to transform the former industrial district, the City of Montréal is working with different developers to implant bicycle paths, parks, playgrounds and high-end/high-rise condo projects. Most of these condo buildings have top of the line amenities such as rooftop terraces with pools, fully equipped gyms, party rooms, cinemas and much more. These amenities as well as the proximity to Montréal’s business district and international district make Griffintown a very desirable choice. Residents of the area include young professionals, young families, investors and empty nesters. It is an ideal place to come home to after a long day’s work.
St Henri
This area is the fastest growing in all of Montréal. Saint-Henri is a place where gastronomy, music, history and vast green spaces meet. With the newly opened Super Hospital to the West, many young professionals and students are flocking to rent and buy in the area. This neighbourhood is changing every day. New restaurants and bars open along Notre Dame street on a weekly basis and are amongst the best Montréal has to offer. Alternatively, when the residents of St-Henri are in need of a home-cooked meal, the freshest produce can be found at the Atwater Market.
For the outdoors enthusiast, the Lachine Canal is a biker and walkers paradise. With beautiful scenery, one could rent a paddleboat or bicycle and travel along the beautiful waters. There are also many patios and terraces to unwind on after a long day’s work.
